Suse & Ross in Bloom

Two of my favourite people got married over the weekend! They are one of those couples that are just so special - two incredible people who are  are amazing individuals that also happen to be even better as a pair. It's such a rare thing, and in the 11 years or so that I've known them, I haven't met many like them.

So of course it was the wedding of the year!

I was way too busy running around, drinking champagne and daggy dancing (ok, that's my real dancing, shhhh) to actually take many good photos of the blooms, but luckily Emma D was on hand to snap some memories.

Purple was a perfect touch in the vineyard setting, with beautiful lavender table decorations (I also loved the huge plates), and both the bride's and maids' bouquets were super cute. 10 out of 10!

Congratulations guys!

The Hunter in Bloom

Cheers to Friday in the Hunter! Last night's wine hangover is being soothed by a beautifully sunny walk through the cottage garden at our house. Lots of roses and some obligatory lavender surrounded by grape strewn vines. And a bridge, you must have a little bridge!

Magazine in Bloom

My obsession for blooms and table decorating often sees me trawling through wedding blogs for inspiration - there's not much else out there.

So I am very happy to find this online magazine fĂȘte which does beautiful table stylings without all the bridezilla.

Oh, and it's free! God bless the interwebs.

LBi in Bloom

Ahh! It all went off without a hitch! We (my trusty helper Emma D and I ) put the flowers up in record time, and it looked good (I think!) and then we packed up and spread some blooms around Sydney before collapsing into bed. SO MUCH FUN! Can't wait to do it again - who's in?

Preparation in Bloom

Tonight I will be doing the flowers for my first real event!

One of my friends, an ex-colleague, actually asked me to do some blooms for her new company's party because she had seen this very blog. Thanks internet!

I am equal parts excited and crazy nervous.

Here's a little sneak peak into the lead up:

Buying vases at Ikea - they have some great stuff at the moment and it is so frickin cheap! Those sets of 3 vases are only $19.99 and they are really quite big. And it might be super daggy, but Friday night at Ikea Tempe is just bliss!

This is my boot full of flowers from the flower markets. Thanks God the markets are so beautiful and inspiring, because getting out there in the wee hours sucks otherwise.

And this is how everything is looking so far! It's all bunched and tied into little posies, which will then be finished with the red spider and vanda orchids.  Red and white are the company colours, and the host wanted something modern, so I've chosen really textual blooms, no roses or hydrangeas.

I just have to hope it looks great in the space. I have one hour to put it all together, thankfully I have Emma D on hand to help (although her job will probably just be calming me the f down when I go loco).

Wish me luck!

Boys in Bloom

My friend Lewis lamented on the fact that boys don't get given flowers. He says that when boys get flowers it feels just the same as when girls get flowers - ie AWESOME.

So I gave some boys some flower love on the weekend. Maybe they were just being nice, and they really wanted more vodka, but I really liked giving them blooms.

Dhalias and orchids  for Adam....

Tulips and red bouvardia for Derek.

Happy Party Boys!
