West Village Wedding in Bloom

We did the cutest dang wedding at a lovely little restaurant in the West Village called Bobo.

Who knew lavender came in white?

The colour scheme is simple - white, green, silver. So elegant.

Parrot Tulips are the bomb.

Boxed and ready to set up.

Every arrangement is unique.

Some hang from the banisters.

Vintage coffee tins hold arrangements on the copper bridal table.

Who's ready to get married?

Rose Water in Bloom

Great tutorial to make home made rose water with a bunch of sweet smelling roses and a house brick! Surprisingly easy (once you have found the house brick....)

Drew in Bloom

Many of my early obsessions can be attributed to my love of Drew, including floral head wear. Yep, I used to rock head daisies in the 90s (they do not last well at high school parties...)

I was hoping for some crazy head blooms at her most recent wedding, but they are mostly hidden by her veil. I have to say, I was a little bit disappointed with her wedding look (WTF Karl? you couldn't get close enough to the baby bump to actually fit the dress?) but her bouquet was lovely.

Flower Girl NYC in Bloom

Now we are gettin' somewhere! After a couple of months wandering the mean streets of New York, I feel like I have found my place.

It's in a tiny little flower shop, in the back of a designer denim store, on a corner where the Lower East Side starts to flirt with Chinatown, in downtown Manhattan.

Flower Girl NYC is probably the cutest shop I have ever seen in my life, and those of you who know me (which let's face it is everyone who could be bothered reading this dribble) know I've been to a shop or two.

In this tiny, antique dream of a workspace, they create pieces of floral design that are whimsical, organic, stylish and enchanting. This is not the place to go if you want three calla lilies in a vase of black pebbles, but who does really?

So I couldn't believe my luck when the girls in the store agreed to give me an internship. Basically, I am working like I don't need the money (which is not true at all, but any hoo) and it is devine. I feel as happy as Romy and Michele at the end of High School Reunion when they fold scarves in their own store. Bliss.

We're in here! On the corner of Orchard and Broome.

Can you see us? Right in the back.

Every week we work with a different colour, today we're green and white.

Awesome, right?

Come on, you know you want to!

 The circle of (plant) life.

You can also get your arrangement in one of these vintage tins!

If you are in town, stop by, it really is worth it (and we are only a few doors from Babycakes anyway, so you'll be in the area). Or, if you need flowers for someone in NYC, you know what to do! (Email us.)

Heads in Bloom

For my birthday, I made everyone wear ridiculous and yet amazing floral wreaths to take the focus off my relentless ageing.

One guy asked me if I had just won something at the Olympics, so I am considering them a success.

Great Britain in Bloom

To celebrate the London Olympics and all things British, my friend threw a gorgeous garden BBQ in her Bethenal Green flat.

We themed the party red, white & blue for the Union Jack, which kind of freaked me out as I am not much of a fan of primary colours, let alone the use of multiples of them.

Oh, and I had to create them in reality TV time (ie no time whatsoever) so in the end I was literally shoving the blooms into whatever receptacle that would hold them.

But, like Team GB, they came good in the end.
